Defining a Line
The Line component is used to define sections of pipeline – typically consisting of pipe sections or cables for the most part. A Line component may be comprised of any combination of Pipe Section, Cable, Flex Joint, Tapered Stress Joint, Structure, Ancillary, Connection and Spring components. Subcomponents are assembled together in a pipeline stack-up, and the stack-up may be manipulated at any time. For example, the order of components within the pipeline may be changed, lengths of pipe sections may be adjusted, the stack-up contents can be duplicated, and so on. Different lines may be connected together using Connection components. The Line component also provides a useful summary of subcomponent properties (e.g. submerged weight, cross-sectional area etc.) which facilitates input data verification. The Line component is referenced by the Model component, where it may be combined with other lines, vessels, a seabed profile etc. to build a complete pipeline installation model.
