V3.4 Release Highlights - Enhanced Analysis Component

PipeLay  now reduces run-time further by allowing installation stages to be executed in parallel. The Run Stages in Parallel drop-down on the Properties tab enables stages to be executed concurrently based on their dependency on restart stages. Non-restart stages will be executed first and then the stages depending on them will be executed once complete. This process repeats until all stages are completed successfully. The option is ignored if the analysis only contains a single stage or a single stage is selected for execution. The number of stages that can be executed is set on the Options dialog by editing the value in Concurrent Analysis Runs.

Component selective damping allows you to assign unique damping coefficients to any Line, Pipe Section and Cable Components. The Damping Type drop-down on the Properties tab enables you to select the type of damping you want to apply. There are two options: Global (default) and Component. The Global option assigns stiffness and mass damping coefficients to all elements in the analysis, as per previous versions. Whereas the Component option allows you to assign damping coefficients to selected component type, names and locations, as shown below.

Variation of Vessel and Stinger Radii of Curvature can be controlled through the Parameters tab on the Analysis component, as shown below. The Vessel Radius parameter allows you to redefine individual entries on the Vessel Radii of Curvature dialog that is specified on the Vessel component of interest.

The Stinger Radius of Curvature parameter, on the other hand, allows you to redefine the Stinger Radius of Curvature (for an S-Lay Stinger with a Radius of Curvature configuration) for a Stinger that is specified on the Vessel component of interest, as shown below.

Faster editing of Installation Stages, Parameters and Criteria data can be performed using the Export/Import functionality on these tabs. Export/Import data is stored in CSV format, with appropriate column headers to represent each table column that is displayed on the respective analysis tab. Editing the CSV data in Excel represents an efficient alternative to making additions/updates via the PipeLay user interface.

Automatic resizing of the Analysis component to fit window size. This means that the table information displayed on the Installation Stages, Parameters and Criteria tabs can now be viewed without horizontal scrolling, when PipeLay is displayed on a wide screen.
