Specifying Project Information
The Project component, identified by the icon , contains general information about a project. When you select the Project component in the Project Sidebar, the Component View is displayed in the right hand side of the PipeLay window.
When you click on the General button, you are presented with a list-type dialog where you can enter general information about the project, including its title and the job number. When you close the dialog, by clicking the OK button, the Component View is updated with the values you entered, as shown in the figure below.
Metric units are specified by default and you will work with these units for this example. Under the Constants button, project constants such as acceleration due to gravity, water density and mesh settings can be modified, although normally there is no need to do so. As outlined in Example 3, you will use the default values for the metric constants.
The ‘Quality Control’ section is made up of a set of tick boxes that dictate the quality control procedures adopted by PipeLay for the project. These can be left as default for this example.
