Model Component

Previous page Next page

The Model component is a powerful and intuitive tool for constructing 3D models of pipe laying scenarios. In this example, the Model component is named ‘Model’. The Rigid Seabed is selected from the Seabed drop-down list and the Water Depth is defined as 800m. The following sections describe the various elements that are added to the model.

Vessels

Two Vessel components are added, ‘Lay Vessel(1)’ and ‘TLP(1)’ respectively. The properties for these vessels are given in the two tables below.

Connection Points

Three Connection points are defined in this example, ‘TLP 1, ‘LV 1, and ‘Seabed Connection’. ‘TLP 1 and ‘LV 1 are located in the Vessel Connection Points folder. ‘Seabed Connection’ is located in the Seabed Connection Points folder. The three tables below contain the properties of each connection point.

Lines

One Line component is added, ‘Pipeline(1)’. The start point is specified as ‘Seabed Connection’ and the end point as ‘LV 1’. The Sag Option is defined as Auto.

Cables

One Cable component is added, ‘Winch Cable(1)’. The start point is specified as ‘Winch Connection on Pipeline(1)’ and the end point as ‘TLP 1’. The length is defined as 300 m.
