Defining a Vessel
The Vessel component is used to collate information to characterise a vessel and its associated motions. It is also used to associate a stinger with the vessel by referencing a Stinger component. Supports may also be positioned on the vessel deck by referencing Support and Tensioner components directly. Designated areas of pipe curvature can be assigned along the vessel, and any attached stinger, with supports within these areas being automatically mapped to suitable arcs during model creation and analysis. Vessel motions are governed by the association of a Vessel Motion component with the vessel. A vessel profile may be optionally associated with the vessel for illustrative purposes, appearing in all animation files generated by analyses that include the vessel. The Vessel component is referenced by the Model component, where it may be combined with other vessels, lines, a seabed profile, and so on, to build a complete pipeline installation model. The vessel origin is actually specified in the Model component. You can also specify a vessel reference point relative to the vessel origin, which is the point on the vessel for which the vessel RAOs are defined.
