The Model component is a powerful and intuitive tool for constructing models in PipeLay. In this example, the Model component is named ‘Model’. The Rigid Seabed is selected from the Seabed drop-down list and the Water Depth is defined as 1400m. The following sections describe the various elements that are added to the model.
One Vessel component named ‘Vessel(1)’ is added to the model. The Properties are specified with X, Y and Z coordinates of 0m and a yaw of 0°.
Two connection points are defined in this example, ‘_TensionerVCP(1)’ and ‘Seabed Connection’. ‘_TensionerVCP(1)’ is generated automatically because a tower with a tensioner has been added to the model and it is located in the Vessel Connection Points folder. This connection point has the automatically generated properties listed in first table below, except DOFs 4 and 5 which are user-specified. ‘Seabed Connection’ is located in the Seabed Connection Points folder and has properties as shown in the table below. Note that the ‘Seabed Connection’ coordinates are calculated automatically as the Calculate Position option is kept at the default, Yes. This means that the Y-Coordinate is to change automatically from its initial zero value to some negative value away from the vessel.

One Line component named ‘Line(1)’ is added to the model. The Start Point is specified as ‘_TensionerVCP(1)’ and the End Point as ‘Seabed Connection’. The Sag Option is defined as Auto.
