Model Component

Previous page Next page

The Model component is a powerful and intuitive tool for constructing 3D models of pipe laying scenarios. In this example, the Model component is named ‘Model’. The Seabed for the Model (in this case ‘Elastic Seabed’) is selected and the Water Depth is defined as 42.5m. The following sections describe the various elements added to the model.

Vessels

One Vessel component named ‘Vessel(1)’ is added to the model. The properties for this vessel are listed in the table below.

Connection Points

Three vessel connection points are defined in this example, ‘Winch1’¸ Winch2’ and ‘Winch3’, and all are located in the Vessel Connection Points folder. The table below summarises the connection point definitions. Each point represents a pinned connection so the DOF1-DOF5 entries are set to zero in all cases, with the Lay over Stinger option set to ‘No’.

One fixed connection point named ‘Fixed End’ is defined in this example and is located in the Fixed Connection Points folder. The table below details this connection point specifics. The ‘Fixed End’ represents a pinned connection so the DOF1-DOF5 entries are set to zero.

Lines

One Line component is added, ‘Pipeline’. The start point is specified as ‘Fixed End’ and the end point left as the default value ‘<none>’.

Cables

Three cables are added to the Cables folder. The table below summarises the cable definitions.
